Underwriting of Resolution Health members applying for membership of Discovery Health

On 1 September 2009 the Council for Medical Schemes published press release 6 of 2009 in which it was announced that Resolution Health (Pty) Ltd and Resolution Administrators (Pty) Ltd are no longer accredited to provide such services to the Resolution Health Medical Scheme. The Scheme was given until 1 December to find a new administration and managed care provider.

Since then Discovery Health Medical Scheme has received a number of requests for membership by Resolution Health members who are concerned about the risks that these changes present in terms of the ongoing operations of their scheme. The profile of the applications received thus far indicates no undue risks to the current members of DHMS. Therefore, in order to streamline the processing of these applications and ensure no break in cover for the members, please note that existing members of Resolution Health will not be subject to underwriting on change of membership to Discovery Health.

Terms and conditions
1.       Members applying under this concession will receive no waiting periods or late joiner penalties other than the balance of waiting periods imposed by Resolution Health or existing late joiner penalties
2.       Members applying under this concession will need to provide proof of current membership of Resolution Health
3.       The application form must reach Discovery Health by 1 December 2009.
